The ‘Exercise’ Diet: Keeping Healthy The Natural Way

The ‘Exercise’ Diet: Keeping Healthy The Natural Way

Dieting fads come and go; from widely adopted regimes such as The Atkins Diet – based on programming your body to burn fat rather than carbohydrates – to extreme single food choices such as the ‘cabbage diet’, or even the ‘egg diet’ recently promoted by advertising guru and renowned art collector Charles Saatchi, and which also has undesirable windy side effects!

But, the most sensible diet is one that is not based upon the latest fad but rather on sustained balanced nutrition. Combine a healthy diet with regular moderate exercise and you’re really onto a winner. Recent research has highlighted that almost 60% of women and 67% of men in the England and Scotland are overweight or obese. Being overweight places a greater strain on the body’s internal organs, muscles and bones, which in turn significantly reduces life expectancy.

The best way to maintain an optimum healthy weight is to burn as many calories as you consume. That may sound obvious but that message is still not getting through to the majority of Britons, as evidenced by the aforementioned research. All it takes is eating a few hundred calories a day more than is required and the weight soon piles on, especially if exercise is also neglected. Before long over-eating becomes a way of life and it then becomes difficult to shed the excess weight.

Living a healthy lifestyle can also be financially beneficial when it comes to purchasing health insurance as at least one leading UK insurer rewards customers who make healthy choices. Buying fresh fruit and vegetables, going to the gym or stopping smoking all attract points which can be redeemed by the policy holder for various benefits. What form the benefits take depends upon the policy holder; from travel discounts to loyalty programmes.

From the insurers point of view the reward scheme is totally self-liquidating; the healthier the policy holders, the less likely they are to make a claim. From the point of view of the policyholder they can actively reduce the amount of their premiums by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and live longer, so everyone wins!

Some medical conditions such as certain heart conditions may be genetic, but whether your family is predisposed to a particular illness or not, healthy living is still the route to take. Some people suffer from naturally high cholesterol levels, but their choice of diet can help reduce their intake of cholesterol.

Whether naturally fit or pre-disposed by your genes to certain illnesses, adopting a sensible mix of diet and exercise will result in a healthier lifestyle.

The first portion of pictures in the gym were taken in the year of 2004 when I was able to train consistently 3 hours a day. The pictures after were taken in 2009, this was when I went through a significant change in my life with job and family responsibilities, I was able to dedicate approximately 1 hour of physical training per day consistently but I used this time to concentrate on mental and spiritual development. Now in Dec. 2009 I have once again began to dedicate more time to physical training, approximately 2 hours a day. I should be able to acheive the physical, flexibility, and technique level that I had back in 2004 and beyond. During the journey of your Martial Arts training you will go through fluctuations of how much time you will be able to dedicate but as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle you will be able to very easily get back to your prior level of achievement. Also be aware that it is not just physical training which involves strength, flexibility, cardio, speed, and technique training but it also is mental and spiritual training. A lot of reading, writing, and inner discovery. There is so much to train, always remember there is the physical, mental, and spiritual, do not neglect any aspect, otherwise you will never achieve greatness as a true Martial Artist.Freddie has founded Freddies Modern Kung Fu in 2009, a private Martial Arts Academy located in Chicago, IL that expresses his interpretation of Bruce Lees Jeet Kune Do. Help answer the question about Healthy Lifestyle Art

Help is needed here… HOLA AT ME?
Yo, what up!

I’m 16 and 3 days. I’m a 6′4.35″, 183.2 lbs BIG BOI! *lol* Anyways, im asking this question to get a reply from y’all if you think i can reach my goal height of 6′7″ by 18. I really want to be 6′7″ since that’s the height, the coach has stated at least, in order to be the main shooter for my high school’s national qualifying basketball team and i wanna be the main shooter for the national qualifying team at my last year of high school. Being main shooter for the team is one of my GREAT dreams.

My dad’s height is 5′8.5″, my mum’s height is 5′4″, my older brother is 6′1″, and my younger sister is 5′10. My tallness was from my mother, all my uncles and cousins are 5′11″ – 6′3″. I’m the tallest in my entire family except for my deceased great grandfather from my mum’s side, who was 6′9.5″.

I lead a very healthy lifestyle, being active in sports (tennis, BASKETBALL), krumping on the streets, KENDO (japanese art of swordsmanship) and kyudo (japanese archery). I had my first growth spurt at 13 and a half years old, and have grown about 9 inches since then.

My point is, sorry, that do you think it is possible that i can reach my desired height by 18? Can you please explain, basing your knowledge on your own height growth experience and general knowledge on growing? (Answers such as “Men grow until they’re 21″ are unnecessary, thank you)

PS: Im very sorry for writing too long and using up a lot of your time to read my question

THANK Y’ALL

HOLLA

Wow…i finally wrote formally. HAHA … what an achievement. hehe… just playing with y’all. 2 up 2 down
